Tokyo-Nights Official Rules
We, the staff of Tokyo-Nights (T-N), strive to maintain a peaceful atmosphere within this forum. While we try to maintain the best interests of everyone here, there comes a time when certain actions need to be followed to ensure that our peaceful atmosphere is upheld. Because of this, the following rules have been set up as a guideline to our members.
Forum Rules- Tokyo-Nights does in fact allow "softcore" images (essentially anything except for genitalia), but we do not allow obscene images witin the site. Obscene images can include (but are not limited to) scenes of racism, disgust, death/extreme violence, defacement, or any image deemed too extreme for minors.
- Do not flame or troll on T-N.
- Discrimination against anyone on any basis including (but not limited to) age, gender, race, nationality, sexual orientation, and/or disabilities will not be tolerated here.
- Refrain from double posting, cross-posting, and duplicating threads with the same message in multiple forums or threads. This includes "bumping" a thread within a short amount of time or otherwise trying to get attention. Use the search option before posting a thread you may suspect has already been made.
- Advertising to win a specific item (such as a free iPod) or any other referral program will not be tolerated.
- When making a thread, please use one of the post icons before hitting the "submit" button, as it allows others to easily identify the difference between post types (such as Info or Pictures). Use of the "Thread Description" option is recommended.
- Respect other members' opinions. Just because you might dislike a specific artist doesn't give you the right to talk badly about them. Remember that not everyone might think like you do, so if you want respect, you'll have to give it as well.
- Respect the staff. They're here to help you, so if you find a thread closed, it was probably for a good reason. If you have a problem with someone, feel free to PM a senior staff member to have the situation dealt with accordingly.
Forum Signature Rules
We're fairly open about allowing avatars and signatures. To ensure that all members here (whether they use 56k or broadband) have the best forum experience possible, limits need to be made to ensure that loading time is kept to a minimum for all. For that, the following is now in effect:
- Allowed image formats: .png .gif .jpg
- You are allowed to use only one of the following limits in your signatures:
o> 1 big image
o> 1 big image and 1 big text line
o> 1 big image and 2 small text lines
o> 2 small images
o> 2 small images and 2 big text lines
o> 2 small images and 4 small text lines
o> 4 big text lines
o> 6 small text lines
o> 1 small image and 1 bigger text line (size=3)
- You may also include up to 2 smilies to the above limits.
With sizes defined as:
Big image: 200px X 100px to 500px X 300px
Small image: 100px X 20px to 200px X 50px
Big text size: size=2
Small text size: size=1
Max image filesizes for any signature or avatar should not exceed 150KB. That includes any sigs with multiple images or using animated signatures (.gif files), as it only increases the loading time for members using 56k. An automated system will be handling the majority of this, so if you see a message asking you to change your signature, it's most likely violating one (or more) of the above points.

Disiplinary Actions
While we don't want to appear strict, there comes a time when action needs to be taken to ensure that T-N is kept in order. Because of that, the following explains what is done for offences within T-N:
First/Trivial Violation : In the case of minor incidents such as using the wrong tag, posting in the wrong forum, etc. , they'll generally be dealt with without any disiplinary action. In the case of spamming and causing a disturbance within the forum, a warning may be sent via PM/IM detailing the issue and a possible means of resolving it. Most of the time, all issues are dealt with within this first step.
Second/Minor Violation : If an issue is repeated, or if an issue is a bit more serious (such as flaming, trolling, etc.), the person will either receive a stern warning via PM/IM, or they may have a privilege taken away (e.g. in the case of spamming, he/she won't be able to access any download forum).
Third/Major Violation : If, after all else fails and the person continues to cause trouble, he/she will be suspended from the forum for 2 weeks, pending a staff meeting to discuss the issue. While we never hope it'll come to this, a person may either be removed of any title they have, or he/she may be banned indefinately, depending on the offense. Such cases as hacking, sending viruses, or any other severe issue will result in an immediate ban.

following these relatively "common-sense" guidelines, you're already helping
the staff and making everyone's lives a little bit easier.
